Can an „Untouchable“ Nepali Girl Become Successful?
Barsa is a member of the „untouchable“ caste, who are among the most downtrodden people on earth. For hundreds of years, they have endured social exclusion, discrimination, food shortages, lack of education, and violence. About 70% live below the poverty line. Many are forced to work as bonded laborers.
Barsa, however, was accepted to a very special program run by the Nepal Youth Foundation. Because of this opportunity, she was recently accepted to medical college. Barsa wants to be a doctor to help other disadvantaged Nepali people. Watch her tell how this program changed her life.
The Nepal Youth Foundation (NYF) is a U.S. based nonprofit that brings hope to impoverished Nepali children by providing what should be every child’s birthright — freedom, health, shelter, and education.
Because dollars go far in Nepal, NYF literally changes lives for pennies a day.
